Exhibition
‘The Ultimate Journey’
The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies will host an exhibition on ‘The Ultimate Journey’ on loan
from Dar Layan Culture from 3rd February to 30th April 2026. It features artwork depicting the
three holy sites of Islam: the Grand Mosque in Mecca, the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina and Al-
Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. The works on show were created by a diverse group of artists including
Dia Aziz Dia, Reem Nazir, Peter Gould, Raeda Ashour and Bill West among others.
This exhibition is presented for the first time in the United Kingdom. The show allows local
audiences to explore artworks shaped by the unique environments, societies, and thoughts of the
artists.
Dar Layan Culture, founded in 2007, is a not-for-profit art and cultural concept creator. At its
heart lies a remarkable collection of paintings, tapestries, sculptures, and music, each thoughtfully
acquired to tell a story and preserve the richness of Saudi heritage, Islamic arts, and the broader
Arab culture.
The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, founded in 1985, is incorporated by Royal Charter. Its
mission is to promote excellence in teaching, research and publications, and to enhance
cooperation within the global academic community.
The exhibition will be open for an advance press viewing Monday 2 February, 2:00pm-3:00pm.
